Something Blue-a popular wedding color

We are barely into February and I have already begun working with a dozen brides that have chosen blue in some variation as part of their wedding color scheme. The popularity of this cool hue comes as no surprise to me. We recently did a post showcasing Pantones color of the year, what we didn’t mention was that of the other colors picked for Pantones top 10, 4 are shades of blue. So I figured I’d focus this week on giving some tips on how to incorporate some of these colors.

The most obvious choice is to use your linens to bring in the color. Table clothes, napkins and runners make a statement in bold navy.

Another option is to highlight the color with plate chargers and glassware with a subtle tint. If you like the pictures below go here to see more ideas and where to purchase. Depending on the centerpiece design you are going for you can also get vases and vintage bottles in a bright blue.

Last but not least is of course choosing blue flowers. There are a variety of flowers that come in blue-ish tones, see below. There is also the option of having your florist hand paint flowers using a floral spray paint designed specifically for flowers. Calla lily’s are more expensive but they look so cool painted blue! Below are some pictures of bouquets we did last year. I love using hydrangea, veronica, hyacinth, delphinium and blue orchids. Use your imagination and work closely with a competent florist and you can have that something blue for your big day! As always check out our portfolio site for more ideas.
